Edison Sno-Park Long Snowshoe Loop

Edison Sno-Park is on the Sunriver side of Mt Bachelor. It offers snowmobile trails, cross-country ski trails, and snowshoe trails that rarely overlap, meaning you can enjoy your favorite snow activity without disturbing or being disturbed by others. Skiers have their own marked paths and snowshoers have others, so that they aren’t destroying each other’s hard work in breaking trail. The paths are not groomed but they are well marked with blue diamonds that correspond to the trail user type.

From the south end of the Edison Sno-Park parking lot you’ll find the trailhead with access to several different trails. This map describes the four mile snowshoe loop through the volcanic rock of Deschutes National Forest. A shorter loop, around 2.5 miles long, is also available. Both will take you close to the Edison Shelter, and don’t miss the side trip to this cozy cabin!

Topo map and GPX track:

Style:

Slightly over 4 miles with the side trip to Edison shelter.

Elevation Gain:

The Edison Sno-Park parking lot is large and the jumping off point for snowshoers, skiers, and snowmobilers. Snowmobiles start from the north end of the parking lot, whereas the snowshoe loop starts from the south end. When you pull into the lot, drive past the snowmobile trailers and down to the south end for foot-powered sport parking. Note that a Sno-Park pass is required.
