Marion Lake is an easy dayhike on the west side of Mt Jefferson. The trail climbs gently through Willamette National Forest and crosses into Mt Jefferson Wilderness. Along the way, you’ll pass by Lake Ann and keep your eye open for wildlife – I saw an otter swimming across the lake when I hiked by! Shortly after climbing out of Lake Ann, look for a use trail heading west down to Marion Falls. It is relatively easy to follow and will take you to the top of the falls – to get a better view you’ll need to scramble down a steeper trail to the base of the Falls.
Back on the main trail, head up to Marion Lake and follow the trail along the shore to a small peninsula. From here, you’ll get a nice view of Three Fingered Jack. To get a nice view of Mt Jefferson, follow the trail along the southwest side of Marion Lake as it climbs towards Marion Mountain. You do not need to summit to get a view!
