Sunol Regional Park is one of those great parks that make you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere while only being a short drive from the middle of Silicon Valley. We took a short hike through the park today.
This loop hike takes you through the grasslands of Sunol Regional Wilderness along the McCorkle trail and down to Camp Ohlone Road where you will pass through a rocky area known as “Little Yosemite Valley”. Sunol is an excellent place to see spring wildflowers and has many opportunities to create hiking loops, big and small. Use Sunol as a launching point to climb Mission Peak from the backside or access the Ohlone Wilderness.
Style:
Loop Dayhike

7 miles

Looks like you did the same loop I did the day prior…I call it the McCorkle Loop. Was that your route? I take the Camp Ohlone Rd trail out to the hookup with the Ohlone, then make a loop out of it across McCorkle and down. That’s usually enough for me!
I gotta check in here more frequently….no question.
beautiful – i can’t believe there is green grass there — since we’re all a desert and it’s the height of summer (??) anyway. i’ve never been, and thanks for showing me another place i’ve wanted to go.
