Once a year or so I get the bug to redesign my site. I’m never 100% happy with how it looks, and one day I’ll find myself tinkering with something tiny, like the placement of a button, and end up completely changing the whole thing. That happened this week. I wanted to share some of the changes/updates/fixes around here, and also let you know that things might be a bit wonky while I work out the kinks and finish the redesign.
In an effort to fix some css integration issues with my photo management software I’m cleaning up my theme a bit. Bear with me while I take the site down from time to time and work my way through design issues. Thanks.
I sat down to do the quick upgrade to WordPress 2.7 and quickly got sucked into browsing around plugins and themes. I’m in the midst of upgrading and reconfiguring quite a lot around here, so if things seem a bit wonky I hope to get them back on track shortly. At least this bad weather is good for something – if I can’t go for a hike in this cold and rain I might as well be productive here.
Update Sunday night: New WordPress version, new theme, and it should all be intergrated with my photos as well. Yaay! I’m still tweaking and fixing problems that are popping up, but it’s just as stable as my last somewhat unfinished theme, so I’m happy. My todo list is still a mile long, but it always is…
Welcome to my shiny new photoblog! There’s still a lot of work to do, but I’m already in love with the potential. I’ve ditched the annoying old Gallery software for the much simpler and cleaner Zenphoto, integrated with WordPress. I still have several things on my todo list, but the site is quite usable and functional now.
Now I have to catch up with posting photos from my latest outings…
I’ve been going through a website midlife crisis lately. What started as a small site to store my photos to share with friends and family (because back then, Webshots was the only online option and it…well…it really, really sucked…) has grown, and I’ve done my best to keep up with it. I’ve tried different solutions for storing photos (Coppermine and Gallery2), and different blogging platforms to go along with them. I even used my own hacked together php before blogging software was around!
A few weeks ago I posted about some issues I had to deal with (comment
spam, broken contact form, etc), and in a comment, Kate C pointed me to
Zenphoto. And then it was down the rabbit hole…
