Lots of hiking, little blogging

I know it’s been really quiet around here, but it is Sierra backpacking season and I’m spending most of my time packing, hiking, unpacking, and sorting through photos. I just spent five days exploring the trail between Tuolumne Meadows and Mammoth and will be posting the trip reports and pictures from those days shortly. I also will be leaving for the High Sierra Trail in the near future and will have the report from that as well. Then, in September, I have another long-ish trip planned into Evolution Basin. Lots of fun – little time for computers and blogging!

Another miscellaneous order of business: I’ve personally experienced and also have gotten reports of problems with the gallery on my website (mainly hanging/crashes lasting around 30 minutes). I’ve been relatively happy with the software I use to run the gallery, but I’m sick of doing the maintenance myself and have decided to make the move to Smugmug. From now on, I’ll be posting all of  my new photos to SmugMug, and when I have time, I’ll be migrating the photos off of this site and over there. Their annual fee, even at the most expensive service level, is a bargain compared to the amount of work I put into maintaining a gallery myself.

I hope everyone is out enjoying the summer hiking season! I’ll be on Mt Whitney (summiting from Guitar Lake and exiting at the Portal on the same day) on the 15th – will I see anyone there?
