We didn’t get out on an overnight last weekend, but we did get in some dayhiking and geocaching along Skyline. In the next several weeks we should be getting out on a few snow trips – Lassen with the Northern CA Hikers, and one or both of the Loon Lake/Glacier Point trips with the TrailTalk folks. I think I’ve recovered from our pre-Christmas adventure at Winnemucca enough to want to get back out in the snow again!

This weekend I’ll be heading off to Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer Show. This will be my third time attending as a BGT representative and I’m just as excited as the first time, probably even more.

The show is five days long, and Day 1 (Friday) begins with the Backcountry Basecamp. This is a demo day at one of the local ski areas. Attendees get to play with new snow gear, enjoy the Utah powder, and meet a lot of other people who share a passion for the outdoors.

Days 2-5 (Sat-Tues) are back at the Salt Palace in downtown SLC. All four days are booked solid with manufacturer appointments, but I hope to get some time to schmooze around and check out the new gear and manufacturers that will be hitting the market in the next year. If I’m not too dead tired at the end of each day, I’ll be posting photos and updates with that day’s discoveries.
